KUALA LUMPUR: Glove counters dominated Bursa Malaysia’s top gainer’s list in early trade Thursday.

The gains on glove counters pushed the Bursa Malaysia's Health Care Index higher. The index jumped 71.62 points, or 2.41% to 3,047.78 at 9.57am.

The top gainers on Bursa Malaysia include Hartalega, Supermax, Top Glove, Kossan, Comfort, Careplus and Rubberex.

Hartalega led the pack with the stock adding 5.3%, or 49 sen to RM9.74, Supermax rose 37 sen, or 9.18% to RM4.41, Top Glove added 5.5%, or 27 sen to RM5.18.

Kossan rose 22 sen to RM3.58, Comfort advanced 18 sen to RM1.58 and Rubberex gained 15 sen to RM1.24.

Dealers said investors were on apparent bargain hunting after following the recent fall in glove makers’ share prices.

Early this week, the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has requested Top Glove to carry out additional rectification and verification work in relation to the earlier findings on the alleged forced labour issue.

Top Glove said the additional rectification and verification works are related to identity documents retained by recruitment agents to be returned to the workers, affecting less than one per cent of its workers, and remediation for workers who didn’t manage to come to Malaysia to work due to Covid-19 related lockdowns.
